In media we used our knowledge of camera shots to analyse a clip from Superman Returns. The clip features Lois Lane's fiance asking her if she was ever in love with Superman whilst Superman himself watches from outside their window.
The clip begins with an establishing shot, which shows the viewer the location (Lois Lane's apartment). The camera skims across the apartment until it becomes apparent that we are looking through the eyes of Superman. Superman is shown in a close up shot letting the viewer focus on his facial expressions.
The camera next goes to Lois Lane and her fiance in which it uses a medium close up to follow their conversation, as well switching between reverse angle shots during the dialogue. After the fiance says "I spent the night with Superman", the camera slowly begins to zoom into Lois Lane's face. When she is asked if she was ever in love with Superman the camera again zooms in towards her face showing the fact that she struggles to answer the question, as if they both know the answer but don't want to say or hear it.
The camera then zooms back out to Superman showing him in a low angle shot to show how strong and powerful the idea of Superman is. However, his facial expressions demonstrate that he is hurt by this as he droops his head and flies away. Superman is as well shown as being an outsider to the couple as he can see everything but they show no interactions with him.
